Grow your own fresh salads and garnishes in this thoughtfully planted mini greenhouse companion pot. Spinach, coriander, Italian parsley, viola and sweet alyssum are carefully paired to flourish together, while the greenhouse lid creates the ideal environment for strong early growth. Once established, companion planting continues to support healthy plants, attract beneficial insects, and provide a steady harvest of fresh ingredients.

Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima) delicate, honey-scented flowers that attract beneficial insects and help create a healthy garden ecosystem.

Why It Works:
This companion planting combination brings together leafy greens, fragrant herbs, and flowering companions to create a productive and biodiverse container garden. Spinach, parsley, and coriander provide a continuous harvest for the kitchen, while viola and sweet alyssum attract pollinators and beneficial insects that help support a healthy growing environment. Together, these plants create a productive, beautiful companion pot that supports biodiversity while providing fresh harvests throughout the season.
Grow Tips & Position:
Place in full sun to part shade, receiving around 4–6 hours of sunlight each day.
As a self-watering pot, keep the reservoir topped up and the soil evenly moist for the best leafy growth.
Harvest spinach, parsley and coriander regularly to encourage fresh new leaves, and remove spent viola and alyssum flowers to prolong blooming.
The clear lid acts as a mini greenhouse, helping to retain warmth and moisture while seedlings are established. Remove the lid once plants begin to outgrow it or as the weather warms.
Benefits & Uses:
Spinach is a fast-growing leafy green packed with vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron and antioxidants. Pick outer leaves regularly for a continuous harvest and enjoy fresh salads, sandwiches and smoothies, or cooked in pasta, soups, curries, quiches and stir-fries.
Italian Parsley is a versatile kitchen herb with a fresh, robust flavour that complements almost any savoury dish. Harvest regularly to encourage new growth and use it in salads, pasta, soups, pesto, chimichurri, tabbouleh and as a finishing herb for roasted vegetables, fish and grilled meats.
Coriander is a fragrant herb that adds bright, citrusy flavour to a wide range of dishes. Pick leaves frequently to encourage fresh growth and use them in Asian and Mexican cooking, curries, tacos, salads, salsas and homemade chutneys. If allowed to flower, it also attracts beneficial insects.
Violas add beautiful seasonal colour while attracting bees and other pollinators. Their edible flowers are perfect for decorating salads, cakes, desserts and drinks, bringing a touch of elegance and colour to every meal.
Sweet Alyssum produces fragrant clusters of tiny flowers that attract hover flies, lacewings and other beneficial insects, helping to naturally manage common garden pests. It also acts as a living mulch, helping retain moisture and creating a lush, overflowing display.
