Fresh garnishes with a pop of colour 🌺
Enjoy fragrant Italian parsley alongside vibrant edible pansies and sweet alyssum, bringing fresh flavour and colourful finishing touches to your favourite meals. Thoughtfully planted using companion planting principles, these plants work together to attract beneficial insects, encourage pollination, and create a healthy, thriving mini garden.
What's included in the Potted Companion:
Italian Parsley (Petroselinum crispum var. neapolitanum) a versatile culinary herb with fresh, robust flavour.
Pansy (Viola × wittrockiana) deep red edible flowers that add vibrant colour and attract pollinators.
Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima) delicate edible flowers that attract beneficial insects, support biodiversity, and provide a hardy ground cover.
Planted in a medium, white, self-watering pot (25cmx23cm).
Why It Works:
Italian parsley provides a continuous harvest of fresh, flavourful leaves, while pansies and sweet alyssum attract pollinators and other beneficial insects to your garden. Alyssum also helps retain soil moisture by acting as a living mulch, while the vibrant pansy adds colour and seasonal interest. Together, these plants create a productive, beautiful companion pot that supports biodiversity while providing fresh harvests throughout the season.
Grow Tips & Position:
Place in full sun to part shade, receiving around 4–6 hours of sunlight each day.
As a self-watering pot, keep the reservoir topped up regularly and check the water level often, especially during hot or dry weather.
Harvest parsley regularly to encourage fresh new growth.
Remove spent pansy and alyssum flowers to promote continuous blooming.
Benefits & Uses:
Italian parsley is a versatile kitchen herb with a fresh, robust flavour that enhances countless dishes. Harvest regularly to encourage healthy new growth and enjoy it in salads, soups, pasta, pesto, chimichurri, tabbouleh and as a finishing herb for roasted vegetables, fish and grilled meats. If allowed to flower, it also provides nectar for beneficial insects.
Red pansies bring rich colour and charm to your edible garden while attracting bees and other pollinators. Their edible flowers have a mild, slightly grassy flavour and make a striking garnish for salads, cakes, desserts and cocktails, adding colour and elegance to homemade dishes.
Sweet alyssum produces fragrant clusters of tiny white flowers that attract hover flies, lacewings and other beneficial insects, helping to naturally manage common garden pests. It also spreads gently across the soil, helping retain moisture, suppress weeds, and create a lush, overflowing display.
