Kitchen Harvest

Kitchen favourites, ready to pick 🌿

Harvest nutritious silverbeet and fragrant Italian parsley, beautifully complemented by sweet alyssum. Thoughtfully planted using companion planting principles, these plants naturally support one another by attracting beneficial insects, encouraging healthy growth and providing a steady supply of fresh, homegrown ingredients for everyday cooking.

What's included in the Potted Companion:

Silverbeet (Beta vulgaris) ornamental and extremely nutritious, this prolific Swiss chard will provide ongoing harvest and high yields.

Italian Parsley (Petroselinum crispum var. neapolitarium) adds fresh herbaceous brightness to dishes with abundant harvests.

Sweet Alyssum (Lobularia maritima) delicate edible flowers that attract beneficial insects, support biodiversity, and provide a hardy ground cover.

Planted in a large black San Remo pot (33cmx30cm).

Why it works:

Silverbeet provides abundant leafy harvests, while Italian parsley makes the most of the growing space with its fragrant foliage. Sweet alyssum attracts pollinators and beneficial insects, helping to create a thriving mini ecosystem that supports healthy, productive plants.

Grow tips & Position:

Best grown in a sunny to partly shaded position.

Water regularly to keep leaves tender and thriving.

Harvest regularly from the outside in using the oldest leaves first. This encourages fresh new growth.

Protect from snails and slugs.

Benefits & Uses:

Silverbeet is antioxidant rich nutritional powerhouse packed with Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin K as well as essential minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium. Use silverbeet as a substitute for spinach or Asian greens.

Parsley is an excellent source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin K, and is an essential ingredient in bouquet garni. Ideal in salsa verde, soups, casseroles, fish, chicken and egg dishes.

Sweet Alyssum is edible with the tiny flowers and fresh leaves can be eaten. They add a mild, honey-like sweetness and a slightly peppery, cabbage-like kick to salads, cold summer soups, and desserts.
