Why it works
Spring Harmony combines flowering bulbs with edible greens and flowers to create a pot that's both beautiful and productive. The different plants offer layers of height, colour and texture, while viola and sweet alyssum provide flowers that attract pollinators and beneficial insects.
Grow Tips & Position
Place in a sunny to partly shaded position with good morning or afternoon light. Keep the soil consistently moist but well drained, particularly while the bulbs and lettuce are actively growing.
Harvest outer cos lettuce leaves as needed, allowing the plant to continue producing. Pick spent flowers regularly to keep the pot looking fresh and encourage continued flowering.
Benefits & Uses
Fresh & nutritious: Cos lettuce provides vitamins A and K, folate and fibre, making it a fresh, nutritious addition to salads and meals.
Easy to harvest: Pick outer leaves as needed for fresh salads, sandwiches, and wraps.
Edible flowers: Viola flowers are edible and add colour and a delicate flavour to salads, desserts and drinks.
Supports beneficial insects: Sweet alyssum and flowering bulbs provide nectar and pollen for bees and other beneficial insects.
Spring colour & fragrance: Daffodils, Dutch iris and hyacinth create a beautiful spring display, with hyacinth adding a lovely fragrance.
Pretty & productive: Combines edible plants and flowers in one easy-to-enjoy container garden.
